The Temptations合唱组的几名成员嗓音天赋非常好，带有一种特有的魅力磁性与表现张力，尤其是中音主唱ruffin的歌喉，那种黑人独有的超磁性嗓音足以让任何一名歌坛巨星为之失色。他们1964年12月21日在底特律录制了《my girl》。单曲唱片1965年1月16日进入排行榜76位，3月6日达榜首。
